PIRAEUS II
The eight-story residential building with a pilotis and basement is planned to be constructed in Piraeus. The plot presented significant design challenges due to its limited area and narrow length. These constraints, combined with the structural requirements, necessitated a consistent, repetitive floor outline across all levels. However, the use of ‘erker’ and balconies breaks this repetition, adding a sense of dynamism to the overall composition. The building is organized into four distinct parts:
-the pilotis, serving as a parking area and main entrance to the building,
-the primary apartment typology, featuring ‘erker’ on the façade,
-the secondary apartment typology, without ‘erker’,
-and the maisonette, which, in compliance with building regulations, is set back from the main façade.
The main background of the building remains white, while the projecting and recessed elements are highlighted with contrasting colors, emphasizing the architectural identity of the design.
